Monday 9/30/2013

Yay!! I had a super day at practice today! The weather was absolutely perfect for running! I had a granola bar from Costco for a snack. I think I was a little bit sloshy because I drank a Gatorade bottle of water in the last 15 minutes of Mrs. Gobble's class. Heheh... Anyway, during the routine warm-up, I was feeling really good! I was early to finish, so I got to lead a line for dynamics! After stretching for a bit, we ran to Long Cove. We were supposed to do 20 minutes easy, 15 fast, then 20 more easy. At first, I was doubtful that I would make it all the way to Long Cove, so I tried to get to Lifetime. As it turns out, this run was nothing! I held about an 8:07 pace until UDF with Heather P. and then we had to cross Socialville-Foster. Then, the light was broken to cross Mason-Montgomery Rd., so the coaches approved of us J-walking. It took about 20 minutes to do that amount, so after crossing Mason-Montgomery Rd., we picked up the pace to 7:20 according to Heather's watch, so we slowed down to about a 7:45 min/mile pace. I turned around just past the apartment complex in front of Long Cove! It was pretty awesome! I finished the run on the way back with Rachel A. I looked it up on a map, and I ran 7.1 miles!!!!! It took 55:18 minutes. After I got back, I did 6 striders and then stretched and got water. After everyone got back, we did abs and push-ups. :D I'd say a productive day, no?

We ran to the Glens in intervals of 9 easy, 9 hard, 8 easy, 8 hard, all the way down to 5 easy, 5 hard. It was 7 miles!! Here's the path we took:

9/15/2013- STILL EWWY! and Covington Catholic Invite

Hey! Sorry for not posting... I've been sick and busy. Yup. I'm *still* sick...

Thursday, September 12, 2013 - Easy Practice
During practice, we didn't do much. Basically, we ran to Heritage Park which took about 14 min. We did some circuit training around the fields. We did I think 3-4 loops. On the last one, Morgan Campbell hurt her ankle, so practice ended early. We ended up getting cookies and walking back to MHS.

Friday, September 13, 2013 - Pre-meet
Boo! It's Friday the 13th! I had a really good day! We did our normal warm-up and then we ran with whomever we wanted to for 20 minutes in Pine Hill. I ran with Rachel. It was the perfect weather outside! It was really cool (60 degrees). We met at the track after that and Dobson explained the course to us. Then, we ran 10 minutes around MMS then Dobson talked some more. Then we did 7 minutes around MMS. Mostly Rachel and I hung around the tennis courts and circled around. After that, we went back to the track and peaced out. I ended up running back to the HS and getting my stuff, and then walking VERRYY slowly to Jocelyn's house to grade SciOly tryout tests...

Saturday, September 14, 2013- Covington Catholic Invite
Brrr! It was freezing during the meet! It was only 43 degrees! I got up at 5:20am and ate some oatmeal for breakfast. Baba didn't add any milk to it, but I still got diarrhea. :( The bust left at 6:00am for Covington. I slept the entire way on hugged my bunny PillowPet! As we went up the hill to the Drees Pavilion, the view of Cincinnati was SO pretty!! (This pic is from after the meet... It was even prettier before sunrise!)

9/11/13- Still Icky

Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Today I didn't do the morning run because I have a cold or something... Ok. Maybe not a cold. In any case, I feel cruddy. Everything is sore (not muscle-y sore, but flu-ey sore.. but I don't have a fever.) Urgh. My head is like a balloon and I have the worst headache in the world. And my nose is stuffy and runny. I'll post tomorrow and see if I feel any better.  9/11- Never forget. <3

Bad Day at Practice... :(

Tuesday, September 10, 2013
Today, as planned, we did hills. Horrendous, dreadful, abhorrent, nasty hills. It was so, so hot today! It was 93+ degrees! Our warm-up was to run with our water bottles to the pool shelter (the hexagonal one). After everyone got there, we all stretched and did dynamics. Then, we did 20 min of running around pine hill. I felt really sick. After that, we met back up at the shelter and Coach Dobson met up up with everyone to discuss what we were going to do. We started at the 1K mark from the Mason Invitational and ran through the woods and along the roller coaster. When we hit the U-turn tree, we went back the way we came. The first time we did that, Jade group led us. The second time, I ran with coral and I couldn't keep up because I was having a lot of trouble breathing. At least more trouble than I usually do with similar workouts. The last time, I went with blue and told Coach Kandell that I wasn't feeling well and my throat hurt when I breathed. That time, I barely even kept up with Blue! My throat just entirely closed up and I was wheezing and coughing all the way back to the pavilion. Kayla, thankfully, helped tell coach that I couldn't breathe because I couldn't even talk. She said that I was probably done for the day, which really bummed me out, but I guess I needed it. The other groups did an extra 1 or 2. Some groups did even more. I just sat and talked with Rachel. After everyone else had finished, Dobson told them to run 15 min of cool down and meet back there. Rachel and I walked to the Athletic Office entrance to the building and waited inside for the rest of our team to finish up and come inside to do weight room. Everyone else also had to do striders. After a while, we went to weight room and the trainer told us that she changed our workout because it was getting boring. When I was doing step-ups, Coach Kandell came to talk with me and she told me that I shouldn't go to morning practice because I'm sick. :( So I'm really bummed about that, but it's true because even as I'm typing this, my nose is completely blocked up and I'm breathing through my mouth. I really hope I get better before Friday/Saturday....

First Post! - Mason Invitational!

Yay! I finally got around to making a running blog! I'll try to post everyday or at least 3-4 times a week. Ok? Ok. Here's what I've been up to:

Saturday 9/7/2013 - Mason Invitational
Our home meet was wicked AWESOME!! The course was really nice and it wasn't as muddy as last year. (It was a lot of fun in the mud, but it made the already difficult course *that* much harder.) Unfortunately, I didn't PR at this meet, but I'm still happy with my time. I got 26:21.72, which is only 14 seconds slower than my current PR (which I set 2 weeks earlier at the Finishtiming XC Classic @ Wilmington.) My current PR is 26:07.98! At the 1.5K area after we go back into the Sahara, I picked up a really long stick in my right spike and it stayed there until the 4K mark, which really sucked. The creek crossing that's about 1/2 mile before the 2 mile mark was felt really nice, but the amount that the pea gravel gave in really caught me off guard. After we went around Tree Island, I picked up another stick in my spikes, only this time it was in my left spike. It was super long so it scrated up the inside of my right calf. It came off at the hay bales just before the 4K mark. After the meet, I stayed for until 3:45pm or so to help clean up the course.. Overall, it was a great experience, but it was extremely crowded and made passing unbearably difficult in the first mile.

Monday 9/9/2013 - Practice
Yesterday,  it was SUPER hot!! It was 92 degrees, not to mention the sun pounding down! We warmed up on our normal path around the Municipal Building and along Mason-Montgomery Rd. The we did dynamics and went back under the Natatorium Entrance to strech and talk. We ran from MHS to Stonebrook in groups of 3. I went with Brittany and Jessica. We ran for 50 minutes and went back to Pine Hill to get water and get up to 60 minutes. We drank SO MUCH water! We went back to the NE and went inside to get even more water. Then, we had to do striders. Me and Caitlyn pretty much jogged them because we were so sloshy. Ahaha.... After that, we did abs/push-ups/leg work. They usually madde us do 10 push-ups per set, but this time, they made us do 20 and my arms were exhausted after 3 sets! On my second set, my elbow gave out and twisted to the side and right now (even after 20 hrs, it still hurts. I hope I didn't dislocate my shoulder because that would suck... It's just kind of sore. Similar to when you have a really bad flu. Speaking of flus, I think I might be comign down with a cold because my throat hurts and my nose is extra runny (no pun intended!). In any case, that was not a very fun practice. Apparently, today we're doing hills. Yay. :P
