Yay! I finally got around to making a running blog! I'll try to post everyday or at least 3-4 times a week. Ok? Ok. Here's what I've been up to:
Saturday 9/7/2013 - Mason Invitational

Our home meet was wicked AWESOME!! The course was really nice and it wasn't as muddy as last year. (It was a lot of fun in the mud, but it made the already difficult course *that* much harder.) Unfortunately, I didn't PR at this meet, but I'm still happy with my time. I got 26:21.72, which is only 14 seconds slower than my current PR (which I set 2 weeks earlier at the Finishtiming XC Classic @ Wilmington.) My current PR is 26:07.98! At the 1.5K area after we go back into the Sahara, I picked up a really long stick in my right spike and it stayed there until the 4K mark, which really sucked. The creek crossing that's about 1/2 mile before the 2 mile mark was felt really nice, but the amount that the pea gravel gave in really caught me off guard. After we went around Tree Island, I picked up another stick in my spikes, only this time it was in my left spike. It was super long so it scrated up the inside of my right calf. It came off at the hay bales just before the 4K mark. After the meet, I stayed for until 3:45pm or so to help clean up the course.. Overall, it was a great experience, but it was extremely crowded and made passing unbearably difficult in the first mile.
Monday 9/9/2013 - Practice
Yesterday, it was SUPER hot!! It was 92 degrees, not to mention the sun pounding down! We warmed up on our normal path around the Municipal Building and along Mason-Montgomery Rd. The we did dynamics and went back under the Natatorium Entrance to strech and talk. We ran from MHS to Stonebrook in groups of 3. I went with Brittany and Jessica. We ran for 50 minutes and went back to Pine Hill to get water and get up to 60 minutes. We drank SO MUCH water! We went back to the NE and went inside to get even more water. Then, we had to do striders. Me and Caitlyn pretty much jogged them because we were so sloshy. Ahaha.... After that, we did abs/push-ups/leg work. They usually madde us do 10 push-ups per set, but this time, they made us do 20 and my arms were exhausted after 3 sets! On my second set, my elbow gave out and twisted to the side and right now (even after 20 hrs, it still hurts. I hope I didn't dislocate my shoulder because that would suck... It's just kind of sore. Similar to when you have a really bad flu. Speaking of flus, I think I might be comign down with a cold because my throat hurts and my nose is extra runny (no pun intended!). In any case, that was not a very fun practice. Apparently, today we're doing hills. Yay. :P
